Daily Journal of Commerce: Corvallis developer seeking funds for housing project

POSTED: 04:00 AM PDT Thursday, August 28, 2008

Affordable housing developer Willamette Neighborhood Housing Services is seeking funding from a new low-income housing project in northeast Corvallis.

The project, Seavey Meadows, was recently approved by Corvallis City Council. Now the developers must obtain state and federal grant money, a process that will take until October or November. The project plan shows a mix of housing, including single-family houses, duplex, triplex and multi-family homes located on 3.46 acres along Conser Street. Homes will be sold to families who earn 80 percent of median family income or less and rental apartments will be leased to tenants making 60 percent of the median income. The 27-acre property surrounding the site contains wetlands, which will be retained by the city for preservation as an open space.

Seavey Meadows will be packaged with Alexander Court – another housing project for grant funding that will offer housing to victims of domestic violence.
